Role of Family Outreach Navigators

Family Outreach Navigators support families affected by inherited conditions by gathering feedback, providing information and assistance, and encouraging them to identify at-risk relatives and communicate with those relatives about their genetic risk.

ConnectMyVariant has many dedicated and compassionate volunteers who work with our members as Family Outreach Navigators. Family Outreach Navigators get to know members - their journey with genetic testing, and their successes and challenges with family outreach. After at least 6 hours of training on how to support members, Family Outreach Navigators work with members and variant groups to explore solutions and resources to address various types of barriers with family outreach, suggesting additional directions to consider that could expand the reach of family communication. A Family Outreach Navigator may work with members or variant groups for few months or several years, setting up video calls every 3 to 6 months or more frequently as desired.
