History

ConnectMyVariant started as a research project at the University of Washington sponsored by the Brotman Baty Institute for Precision Medicine. After initial success, it became a public health initiative at the University of Washington dedicated to helping patients and families understand unique genetic variants. As a public health initiative, it was supported by UW CoMotion, the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, and the Brotman Baty Institute for Precision Medicine. Prior research funded by the NIH and by the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation was influential in family outreach and connection concept development. ConnectMyVariant became an independent non-profit registered in the State of Washington in October 2022.

ConnectMyVariant is currently funded by a development grant from Washington State's Andy Hill CARE Fund and by generous donations from people like you.
